Butterfly Project

"I Am A Jew"

I am a Jew and will be a Jew forever.
Even if I should die from hunger,
never will I submit.
I will always fight for my people,
on my honor.
I will never be ashamed of them,
I give my word.
I am proud of my people,
how dignified they are.
Even though I am suppressed,
I will always come back to life.

- Franta Bass

  1. Overall I think the butterfly is very detailed and the tags help to make sense of the parts that arent that obvious. I feel like some of the tags however didn't tell much about the butterlfy. Some tags where a bit too short and dont give enough informations as to what something represents. Overall though there where some parts of the butterfly that I relly felt where unique. The main thing that I thought was really great about the tags was the tag about the poet.

  2. Hey Kiana, I just wanted to say that what a beautiful butterfly. The butterfly looks like it was well thought with alluring dolors. What really elicit my mind was the "Star of David". Another thing that I have to say is that the tags were great. Overall, the central idea I want to make is that what a great butterfly also keep up with the good work.

  3. Nice word choice Kiana! Choosing strong vocabulary like dehumanizing and suppressed, strengthens your written piece! I would agree that the author's purpose was to stay strong although there was negativity around him. One thing I would suggest is to organize the links or categorize them. For example, one color represents the pictures and another color represents symbolic representations. Another thing I admired was when you explain why use the materials you did and why you chose cardboard. Great work.

  4. Kiana yout sentences were very good and i understood what you trying to explain that your person franta wanted people to know about his story in good way he did not people seeing the bad parts of his story. The color blue was a very good color to choose it helps understand the poem a little better. I like how you added a quote to your butterfly saying " I am will be a Jew, a Jew for ever" this quote was very nice and it brings the poem together. Good job!

  5. This is a very nice butterfly Kiana, I liked how you included a quote from the actual poem, I like how it shows a blue and white striped uniform, that represents the Jews inside of the concentration camp. The yellow Star of David represents the Jews that were innocently slaughtered. I like how you made the butterfly very simple but it's still has meaning and it's not dull. You did a very good job styling your butterfly Kiana, great job.
